Launch Day

The day is here!

An evening flight meant time to panic all day, rework the packing I did the night before and sit on my couch all afternoon twiddling my thumbs, feeling unsure of what to do! I did get to watch Miss Congeniality and Legally Blonde which are great corny/feel-good movies for destressing.

I decided to take the subway to the airport which took me an hour so I can take control of how I get to the airport - made it easier on my nerves.

When I arrived at Logan, I recieved my tickets, got through security and arrived at my gate within 30 minutes. I felt I was in twilight zone because I anticipated that it would take hours! I got a quick meal and a drink and now I'm settled at my gate with 2 hours to kill. Which meant time to blog a little update before I go overseas. 😊 First stop: a 4hr layover in Munich and from there - Dubrovnik, Croatia.

Don't get me wrong, I constantly tell myself I am crazy for doing this on my own. But I think a big trip is worth doing on your own at least once in your lifetime, don't you think? I hope to appreciate things in life a little more. I look forwards to soaking up the sun in three different sea-side cities I've never been to before, appreciating new kinds of art and architecture, and meeting some local people half a world away from home. And of course, to having fun.

I feel fortunate to be able to do this! I'm definitely going to make the most of it.

Will blog again on the other side ✈️

The Real Countdown Begins!

One week from now, at this time, I'll be in Dubrovnik.

Whaaaat.

People just keep reminding me that I'm leaving soon, and I fall into a pit of panic where I feel undeserving or totally unprepared and not ready and there's just so much to do and my work needs me and, and ... and. There's just too many and's.

I deserve this break. I need to keep telling myself that. I need to tell myself it's time to slow down, relax, and take a break to breathe. This is my time.

I'm using the next few days to prepare myself. I caved and purchased a Blogger app so I can blog from my tablet. To my surprise, I can upload photos! I'm currently using the app - it is great so far.

Here's a small look into what I'm packing.

Got my ipad, travel wallet, passport, Croatian kunas and Euros for Mykonos and Barcelona, adapter outlet, portable power bank, travel card (to avoid those pesky int'l bank fees), my new travel cochlear battery module (non-rechargeable so I can simply carry battery packs and not the whole charging equipment), my travel papers - flights and hostels/hotel aaaand all my toiletries.

Keeping it simple and small.

It's Time to Bring This Back!

Hi to all those who subscribed to this blog way back in 2014 from when I studied abroad. A lot has changed in the three years since I took that life-changing trip. I came back, graduated college, kicked around a few internships and a freelance gig before landing my first full-time job, and moved into my first apartment.

Without further ado, I’m bringing this back because I’m going on a trip! A full-on decent and extended trip! That one weekend in Brooklyn was a temporary fix, let's be real. So this time, after over a year of hard work without any real break, endless “what ifs”, almost not going in the first place... I’m traveling solo for two weeks in three countries in early September!

Lifting off to...

1) Dubrovnik, Croatia  |  2) Mykonos Island, Greece  |  3) Barcelona, Spain

Worried? Too late! I've already booked my planes and hotel/hostels with the help of a travel agent. Seriously, I almost didn't do my trip because planning it while working was stressful and overwhelming.  I am sorry I ever doubted travel agents. With the help of my agent, I was able to book everything within a week and a half. So all is left to do is figure out what I want to do each day, pack and go!

In the meantime, I've updated this blog layout so it's less broken and easier to read. I'm also still figuring out how I'll blog overseas since I won't be bringing my laptop, but I will likely bring a small tablet. I am aiming to keep my trip as simple and worry-free as possible :)

Stay tuned.
